Where is the spirit located? Is the spirit in our heart? Is the spirit in our mind? Is the spirit in our emotions? Where in the world is this elusive spirit that we talk about? The fact of the matter is we really don’t seem to know where this spirit is in the body human.
British illustrator Martin Handford www.findwally.co.uk started a sensation that is now ongoing throughout the world – Where’s Waldo? (North American title.) Handford’s children’s books consist of a series of full-page illustrations of hundreds of people typically depicted during a frenzy of activity; each illustration depicts a unique location, time period, or activity according to Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. The task of the Reader is to locate Waldo in each of the illustrations. Waldo himself is a rather distinctive traveler always dressed in a red and white horizontally striped shirt, blue pants, and bobble hat, carrying a wooden walking stick, and wearing glasses. The task is to find Waldo in each of the illustrations. When it comes to finding the spirit in the body human we have our work cut out for us since the spirit is not dressed in a distinctive way so as to stand out from its surroundings.
In the exercise world the word core relates to the very center most of the physical body. In the brain the core just might be the Parietal lobe as it is indeed located in the center of the brain. Now for the spirit – just where is it? What is its role? How does it function? From where does it receive its energy? What is its purpose? How does it relate in the discussion of eternal matters? In general we all want to believe that somewhere, somehow, someway we are eternal and headed to a place of bliss at the end of this life. The purpose of this Blog is the promotion of Wellness for the body human; to accomplish that for the Body (see “archives”) and the Mind (see “archives”) and neglect the Spirit we would do a disservice to our readers. It is a fact that to promote wellness for just two parts of the body human and overlook the third part would be negligent and flawed in the outcome. We do not want to talk about spiritual wellness because we are certain that it will lead to a discussion on religion. What if the spirit is not a matter of religion, but a matter of what is eternal in each body human?
If I were to ask you to locate the parietal lobe of the brain you might look at me like I’m one brick short of a full load. But, if I told you that the parietal lobe is the most important portion of the brain when it comes to matters of faith, you might want to know where it is and what it does. If I were to tell you that the parietal lobe has been scientifically proven to be able to make changes in other portions of the brain as a result of spiritual meditation, you might want to see the study for yourself. Could it be that this is where the eternal portion of the body human is located? Something within us is eternal, verified by many cultures, many years of historic belief in various religions, and personal belief. Now is the time to identify this eternal portion so we can complete our wellness lifestyle by bringing all three Body – Mind – Spirit together for a common purpose. Do you see why it is like trying to find Waldo!
